I'm turning 28 on Friday, April 29th, the same day as the royal wedding. This might be a deterrent for some folks but for me, it means throwing a larger than life soiree for my close friends and family at a swanky venue, preferably with floor to ceiling windows on the top floor of a swanky hotel in the heart of the city. Living by the rules of the babe on a budget, I know how to look luxe without breaking the bank.
If money was no object, however, I would splurge like Jay-Z during his Hermes shopping at Christmas time. My weapons of choice, Net-a-Porter and Bergdorf Goodman, two luxury stores that put a smile on my face any day of the week.
My look has always been classic and sophisticated. Understated luxury that isn't over the top or in your face. For my Friday's Fancies outfit, I would go for solid gold and bronze, two tones that compliment my skin. Money would not change me or my style. I would just be able to buy the real stuff instead of the knock-offs.
1. Lela Rose Appliquéd textured-organza bustier dress ($1,895) is flattering on most figures and definitely on mine. The sexy corset bodice of this mocha textured dress vamps up the demure and sweet full skirt silhouette. Of course money runs out eventually, so this dress would be a staple that can be dressed up or down. A navy or black blazer would make it work or church ready. More bling would vamp it up even more for a red carpet event.
2. Oscar de la Renta 24-karat gold-plated crystal earrings ($375) compliment the texture in the Lela Rose dress. The interlaced pave rhinestones and multi-colored crystal stones give the earrings an umph.
3. Dolce & Gabbana The One Eau de Parfum ($75) is one of my favorite perfums. I've been wearing that scent for over three years now and is usually my go to when I'm going out on the town.
4. Tom Ford Private Blend Lipstick ($45) will add that punch of color to my sun-kissed skin. The color is rich and bold, which is exactly what I need to spice up the gold tones of the outfit.
5. Charlotte Olympia Dolly Suede Platform Pumps ($895) have been on my must-have list since spotting Carrie Bradshaw in them during the Stanford's wedding in Sex and the City 2. I love the platform toe, which add height and some comfort. The satin fabric adds sheen and glamour to my outfit. I can also wear the shoes later with jeans and a crisp button down or a little black dress.
6. Alexander McQueen Satin Flower Knuckle Box Clutch ($1,760) is fierce, fabulous and fun, just like my personality. I won't need any rings or braclet for that matter, because the detailing on the knuckle ring loops are more than enough to give me that extra vamp.
