The Beauty Gal Review: Amika Obliphica Pure Oil
The Beauty Gal Review: Amika Obliphica Pure Oil

I’m a huge fan of Moroccan Oil. I heart the smell and the way it makes my strands feel. Still, I have a theory. When it comes to hair products, I like to “rotate.” I alternate the shampoos and conditioners I use, and I try out several different kinds of styling products. In my mind, my hair never gets used to the same ‘ole stuff.  (Hey, maybe I’m on to something. My hairdresser does the very same thing!) Bottom line: I’ll try anything to avoid a bad hair day.

Lately, I’ve been reaching for Amika Obliphica Pure Oil. Besides having a totally fancy name, Padma Lakshmi is a fan. I’m not going to lie, that really piqued my interest. Her locks are so lustrous they practically hurt my eyes!

Amika Pure Oil contains Moroccan Argan Oil, but its claim to fame is the Sea Buckthorn Berry. This super hot “superfruit” is rich in Omega-7, which is known for it’s healing properties and found in very few places. It’s also packed with a high dose of Vitamin C, an anti-oxidant that helps fight free radicals. I could sit here all day referring to studies and research on Sea Buckthorn, but I’d rather tell you why I love the oil itself.

It feels rich, thick, and luxurious. All I need is a drop or two for my parched ends, so I can already tell that the bottle will last forever. What’s more, the control top spout ensures I won’t waste even a drip. (I hate it when a good thing goes to waste!) I work some product through my wet hair daily. After my mane is dry, a tad more smooths any flyaways.

I’ve now been using this serum for just about  a month. I have to say, my hair does seem healthier. Even my hairdresser mentioned that I I have fewer split ends! (To be honest, I’m sure letting it air-dry most of the summer has also helped.) But what really sealed the deal is when a friend said, “Your hair looks great. Did you have a professional blow dry today?” For me, that was a first…although I wouldn’t mind hearing those words more often!

You can find a 3.38 oz. bottle  Amika Obliphica Pure Oil at Sephora for $34.
