Watching the Golden Globes is fun and all. But let’s be serious. Red carpet fashion is what we’re really waiting for! What can we expect to see from this year’s “winners”? We caught up with celebrity stylist Salvador Camarena for a fashion forecast. (Hint: You probably spotted most of these trends lighting up Spring fashion week!)
Color: Camarena says fashion daredevils will don shades of shimmering gold and electric brights (think sizzling yellow). And don’t forget about Pantone’s color of the year: Tangerine Tango! This bold, citrus shade is sure to dance its way down the red carpet all night long. Paired with rich, gold jewelry, he says these shades will transform our favorite celebs into golden goddesses.

For A-listers that stick with tried and true staples, Camarena says gray tones, off-white, and soft pastels, like mint and blush pink, will still make a style statement. Add in intricate detailing and vintage, silvery jewels, and you can be sure these celebs won’t fade into the limelight.

And although red is ravishing in 2012, Camarena hopes that Hollywood steers clear of it for awards season. Stars should shine on the red carpet, not blend into it!

Style/Detailing: Cut-out shapes and the asymmetrical draped shoulder are guaranteed to steal the style scene. And what’s Tinseltown without a little shimmer? Sequins, metallics, and beading are always fashion gold. Camarena says you can also expect to see starlets channel old Hollywood glamour with things like lace detailing, higher necklines (and plunging ones!), longer sleeves and body hugging silhouettes.

If you’d love a little lace in your life, or you dig bright colors, remember Camarena’s motto next time you hit the stores: Participate in a trend…don’t overdo it! For example, pair a great skinny jean with a tangerine blouse, or scoop up a lace tee and pair it with a blazer. Most importantly, have fun with your fashion!
