Makeup Tips
If a black smoky eye is just too basic, but you’re not quite ready for a rainbow pop of color, why not go the sultry route with some navy blue?
We’re totally starry-eyed for the look! Celebrity makeup artist Andrea Fairweather gives GalTime the step-by-step for creating a deep blue look that will dazzle.
1.) The best way to achieve a flawless smoky eye is to have the right tools. This mission calls for eyelid primer, a matte navy eyeshadow, a natural looking, flesh-colored eyeshadow, a concealer brush, an eyeshadow brush, and a volume building mascara.
2.) Prep your eyelid with the primer. (Try: Benefit Cosmetics Stay Don't Stray Primer, $26) Use a concealer brush for an even finish. This step will allow the eyeshadow colors to glide on smoothly and stay put, so you don't have to worry about creasing.

3.) Now, move on to the flesh-colored eyeshadow. Using an eyeshadow brush, swipe it lightly on the lower lid, extending up to the crease. This will give your eyes balance and prevent the navy hues from looking too harsh. (Try: MAC Cosmetics Eye Shadow in Vanilla or Cork, $15)

4.) Next, apply navy eyeshadow (Try: NYX Single Eyeshadow in Navy Blue, $5) to your entire lower lid. Use a patting motion as you apply the color with your eyeshadow brush. This technique will give you the depth of color, while adding a clean-looking pop to your eyes.

5.) Finish with two clean coats of mascara (Try: Loreal’s Voluminous Million Lashes in Blackest Black, $8.99) to your upper lashes to kick the look up a notch.

6.) Here's a helpful tip: Choosing a matte navy shadow versus one with shimmer will give you the versatility to wear this look to work and out for cocktails, while still looking professional.
