Body scrubs, makeup, hair treatments. From head to toe, we love it all…naturally! What we love even more? When these beauty goodies are packed with natural ingredients.
The latest “green” beauty booster to hit the shelves: bamboo. This sustainable material is being used for everything from exfoliating dry skin to giving your strands strength. It even promises to help lengthen lashes. Oh, and did we mention it can be harvested with little impact on the environment? How bamboo-tiful!

PRIORI® Eco-Friendly, Cruelty-Free Brushes
Get a grip on your makeup application with Priori’s eco-friendly and cruelty-free brushes. The handles are constructed from bamboo, with a stem made from recycled aluminum. The bristles are from the highest quality non-animal derived taklon fibers. We couldn’t wait to get our hands on one of these and recently gave the Kabuki Brush a try. It’s now a staple in our beauty bag.
Priori recommends using this brush for buffing and blending foundation. The Kabuki’s pocket size makes it easy to reach those places where special attention is needed, like under your eyes or the bridge of your nose. Many days we skip foundation, so we also used it to apply blush and bronzer. The bristles are thick, soft and dense, making for an even and flawless application. There were no gaps in coverage on our faces. We also found that its size makes it perfect for glamming up our collarbones with shimmer. Another plus? Toss it in even the tiniest of clutches for touch- ups on the go. Scoop up Priori’s Powder and Concealer brushes for a complete set.

Physicians Formula Bamboo Wear Silk Bronzer Refill
We heart Physicians Formula. From shimmer strips that emphasize your eye color to pretty pearlescent powder palettes …this drugstore staple is a staple for us.
The beauty brand has done it again with its Bamboo Wear Silk Bronzer. This bronze powder is 90% natural and infused with BambooSilk, which promises to even skin tone, condition, tone, lift and brighten the complexion, as well as absorb oil for a perfect bronze finish. Simply swirl the bi-colored makeup for a totally “natural” look.
We used the “Medium” shade, a mixture of deep bronze and shimmery gold. We applied it to our cheekbones and swept it across our foreheads, jaw lines and noses. It didn’t look patchy on our skin or settle into our pores or facial creases. It kicked up our makeup a notch and gave us a golden glow. No “orange” look…no problem! Our skin is more on the “dry” side, but this powder did help keep any shine at bay.
Price: $9.95 on PhysiciansFormula.com and mass market retailers nationwide. Available in three shades: Light Bronzer, Medium Bronzer and Bronze.
Physicians Formula Bamboo Wear Silk Face Powder Refill

Physicians Formula Bamboo Wear Compact and Mirror
Place the recyclable pots above in PF’s Bamboo Wear Compact and Mirror. It is about the size of a small hockey puck and is emblazoned with…what else…a picture of bamboo! Swivel the top of the compact to reveal a full-size mirror and brush. Slide out the bottom and place your powder refills in the compartment. A magnet holds the tiny tins in place to prevent breakage.
This compact isn’t bulky or heavy and the brush is definitely useful on the go. Still, when we’re home, we like to use our full size makeup applicator (Priori anyone?) for more complete coverage. The only downside is that it can be a bit tricky to open both compartments at once and balance the compact in your hand. Other than that, we love the convenience.
Price: $6.95 on PhysiciansFormula.com and mass market retailers nationwide.
