Summer is here, and that means it’s time to dig through your makeup bag and bring out the rainbow brights! One way to go bold is with a punch of colorful eyeliner. How can you line your lids without reaching clown status? Here are a few tips:
- Waterproof eyeliners have come a long way. There are delectable shades and textures available from some of the best brands. My personal favorite collection is Aqua Eyes from Makeup For Ever. There are 25 different shades of pencils, 15 liquids, and 6 cream liners, and they DO NOT budge. (Promise!) For a vibrant take on a classic look, try a brightly colored eyeliner with some champagne shadow and two coats of waterproof mascara. For the really bright colors, like teal or magenta, I like to add a thin line of color along the upper lash line only. This will give you a nice pop without looking overdone.

- For the rest of your face, try applying a thin layer of an oil-free tinted moisturizer (Try: Neutrogena Healthy Skin Enhancer, $10.49). Add some gel or cream blush for flushed cheeks that won’t fade in the heat (Try: Stila Cherry Crush Lip & Cheek Stain, $24). Dab the color onto the apples of your cheeks and blend into the hairline.

- For lips, skip the heavy and sticky gloss and try applying a bright coral or pink lip pencil to the entire mouth (Try: Makeup For Ever Aqua Lip Waterproof Lipliner Pencil, $17). Blend with your finger or a Q-tip, then top with a tinted lip balm. Burt’s Bees Lip Shimmers ($5) are so pretty and feel light on the lips.

- Set everything with a sweep of a talc-free face powder (Try: Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil Finishing Powder, $19). Most of the mineral products are great and will help keep your makeup from fading - even in high humidity!
