How come strapless bras always same to gap at the top? – Michele, Hudson, New York.
Strapless bras are tricky because you are eliminating one of the important means of support – the straps! There is also no way to adjust the fit up top. I suspect that, like many other issues with bras, this one can be attributed to fit. If the cups are not fitting properly, they will gape or conversely, you’ll have boobage billowing out the top. The best thing to do is go to a department store (or two) where they have several varieties and try them all on to find the style that suits you best. You can generally go down a band size than you’d normally wear as you want a slightly snugger fit, and look for a style that is lined with silicone for extra staying power like this one, by Lily of France.

OR, you can try this cool little invention called the Camiband – You can wear it over your bra, or alone, and let it peek through a top or a jacket!
