“I had a double mastectomy and reconstructive surgery following my breast cancer diagnosis. My skin healed in a funny way and I have a horizontal pucker across both breasts, though one is much more pronounced than the other. This makes it very difficult to find bras that are comfortable and flattering. Any advice?” – Page, Chula Vista, CA.
While it’s hard to fully envision what you are describing without seeing it, I am getting that perhaps you need a bra with some structure (i.e. molded or “contoured” cups), like Olga's Disappearing Act Underwire Countour Bra ($25.50), so the puckering isn't quite as pronounced. HerRoom.com offers a fabulous description of this type of bra and why I think it’s right for your case, specifically:
“Contour cups hold their shape, even when not worn. The cups have an underwire and fiberfill or foam lining molded into a specific shape. Contour cups are a perfect choice for any woman seeking a sculpted silhouette, as they offer a specific round and symmetrical breast shape. A contour bra can also add definition (not size) to the breast, a smooth shape, and elimination of nipple contours. Contour bras are a good choice for in-between bra sizes, or a woman with uneven breasts.”
