Daytime, nighttime, work time, or play time, the blazer is truly a girl’s best friend! Celebrity stylist Salvador Camarena has the scoop on which styles will transform you into a fashion trailBLAZER. We’ve included some stunning runway examples, as well as similar (and more affordable!) alternatives:
The Boyfriend Blazer: Lengthy hemlines and a boxy shape define this wardrobe staple. This style works well with anything – from a fitted LBD to skinny jeans and a t-shirt! Camerena suggests the boyfriend blazer for women who want to add to their chest, or emphasize their legs.
Relaxed fits, like the Stella McCartney and H&M jackets below, hit below the waist and add volume to your hips. (Left: Stella McCartney Golden Syrup Dry Slub Suiting Michelle Jacket, $1595, Right: H&M Blazer, $59.95)

The Fitted Blazer: If you want to show off a curvier figure, then this side-hugging jacket is for you! A shorter hemline and fitted sides make this blazer perfect for a night out. Larger bust?Look for an open jacket with simple details at the waist and neck, like thos Mugler Open Placket Jacket. For an hourglass frame, a fitted two-tone tuxedo jacket, like BCBG's Ethan Tuxedo, will also draw attention to your tiny waistline. Look for Lapels: A fold at the neckline of a chic blazer can make all the difference! Whether you prefer a stand-up collar, or a loose, flowy frame, lapels allow you to spice up a masculine blazer with a feminine touch! If you want to add to your bust line, a large lapel can help. (Left: BCBG Abree Relaxed Jacket, $268) On the other hand, a simple fold is great for bringing attention to the face, instead. (Right: Love 21 Crop Satin Trim Blazer, $29.80)

The BOLDer the better: Whether you’re going for a blazer that’s fitted or relaxed, any style can wow in bright colors this spring. Look for hues like orange crush, hot pink, lemon yellow, or cherry red to dress up a pencil skirt or leggings. The stark contrast of classic black and white is also big this season, so don’t be afraid to rock the tuxedo look. A fitted black jacket with a sharp lapel can dress up any white button-down!
