Scarves aren’t just cold weather accessories! To help put some “spring” in your step, we asked celebrity stylist Lisa Berman how to wear a scarf with any outfit this season!
What types of scarves are "in" this spring? This season, look for large scarves to compliment your maxi dresses and long skirts. Infinity scarves are great for a relaxed look, or you can tie a longer scarf around your neck loosely. On the other hand, a smaller scarf is the perfect accent for a preppy look. Throw one in the breast pocket of a blazer, pull it through the lapel buttonhole of your jacket, or tie it around your neck as an ascot.

What are the color trends to look for? Neon is everywhere, and a scarf is the perfect way to incorporate neon into your look. Whether worn traditionally as a neckpiece, as a hair accessory, or as a belt, a neon scarf can give your outfit a pop of color without overdoing it! Floral prints are all the rage this spring, and a flirty flowered scarf is a great way to show off your feminine side. Remember to balance your look – if you’re wearing a floral dress, a floral scarf will make the outfit look too busy. Instead, compliment a solid dress by picking up its color in your printed scarf!

Which fabrics are best for spring? When choosing a scarf this spring, the fabric depends on the look you’re trying to achieve. Crinkled cotton scarves are messier and therefore give off a bohemian vibe, while a tailored silk scarf would look better with an oxford. Start with a lighter fabric (think light cotton, linen, silk), and then pick your scarf based on the outfit you’re visualizing.

What are some fun new ways to wear a scarf this spring? Try wearing your scarf as a headband to compliment a structured dress or jeans and tee, or as a headpiece across your forehead. Tying a scarf around the handle of your purse can totally update its look while adding a pop of color to any outfit. Slip a charm on to a thinner scarf and convert it into a loose necklace! If you’re sick of leather belts, try swapping them out for skinny spring scarves. You can replace your trench coat belt with a scarf, too!
