InJEANious Denim Trends For Fall | Beauty

InJEANious Denim Trends For Fall
InJEANious Denim Trends For Fall

This fall, don’t leave the mall without everyone’s favorite staple – denim! PEOPLE StyleWatch’s Fashion Editor, Rachel Aschenbrand, takes us through this season’s inJEANious trends!

What are the major denim trends this fall? Color and print are still as important as ever for fall! Paisley and brocade are the newest incarnations for prints, and burgundy and evergreen are two chic, versatile fall colors (thanks to the runway trends). This season, you will also be seeing a lot of metallic denim, as well as jeans with leather (or faux leather!) trims. Slouchy skinny jeans will also be hitting the market. so watch out for this look!

Are certain trends more flattering for certain body types? This really depends on how much you want to commit to the trend. A more subdued, tonal print is easier to pull off than a super bold print that strikes a noticeable contrast. Similarly, a jean with subtle leather piping down the sideseam is more wearable for most body types than a jean that's all leather from the thigh down (which can instantly shorten your legs). Burgundy and hunter green flatter almost everyone because they are dark, rich colors. Completely slouchy jeans work better on a boyish frame. If you’re curvy or pear shaped, go for less fabric, since the slouch adds volume.

Forever 21 - Coated Ankle Skinnies, $24.80

How can these trends be worn during the daytime? For daytime, the easiest rule to live by is 'opposites attract.' If you're wearing a metallic jean, you can make it less flashy by pairing it with a chunky, neutral knit. Similarly, a slouchy skinny looks more polished with a preppy blazer and button up collared shirt. Whether you’re running errands during the day or heading to a casual office, it’s all about mastering the balance and toning down or elevating the look of the jeans.

Express - Cascading Elbow Sleeve Cover Up Sweater, $39.90

How can you dress these trends up for night? When you’re heading out on the town, the easiest way to dress up any jean is to add sparkle! You’ll never go wrong with an easy sequin tee or cropped jacket. Pair it with slouchy skinnies, burgundy, hunter green, or even prints for a really bold look. With leather trimmed denim, a chic look for night can be achieved with a silky cami or blouse and a pointy pump. Throw a sharp blazer over it and you're good to go!

Which accessories look the best with these jeans? Slouchy skinny jeans look instantly more put-together with pumps or dressier heels and a clutch or structured bag.  With burgundy or hunter green, pops of texture in your bag and shoes add interest (think snakeskin, embellishment, suede and velvet).  Leather trim jeans are sleek and chic, so its best to go with shoes and bags that have clean lines and aren’t too fussy. Jewelry all depends on how you're styling the outfit and whether it's for day or night.  Delicate stackable bangles are always a good bet for daytime! If you’re glamming up for the weekend, go with bold cuffs and statement earrings!
