One of my goals as your Beauty and Life Coach is to keep you looking great on the inside and out. During the winter months that can be even harder due to low temps, low humidity and potentially damaging winds as all of that is especially hard on your skin.
With all that working against us how do we find relief?
-
First of all take warm showers and baths Only, please. Long, hot showers may feel fabulous, but they can contribute to drying out itchy skin even further
-
Use a gentle cleanser. Scented, deodorant, and anti-bacterial soaps can be harsh, stripping skin of essential oils. Instead, try using non-scented, mild cleanser or soap-free product.
-
Exfoliate and moisturize your body. To rid your body of dead skin cells, use a gentle exfoliant in the shower a couple times a week. Once you've got a smooth surface to work with, soothe your dry skin with an oil-based moisturizer. Thick, heavy moisturizers have more staying power, and keep water from evaporating from your skin.
-
And last but not least, eat up for better skin! A diet rich in Omega 3's can be another important element in your fight against a case of the itchies. That's because the essential fatty acids help make up your skin's natural, moisture-retaining oil barrier. If you don't get enough of these healthy fats you can end up with not only dry skin, but end up being prone to acne, too.
There you have it. Now you have no excuse not to look hot when it's cold outside. And hibernating until the spring thaw makes for a very unhappy Mama bear. Feel great and enjoy!
