Hair Extensions at Makin' Waves Salon - I recommend the Pink!
Hair Extensions at Makin' Waves Salon - I recommend the Pink!
Susie Smith aka My Pretty Pony!

So, they should not have been surprised when I got pink hair! Yes, PINK HAIR!  No, I am not a punk. No, I don’t dress weird. In fact, I am most likely to be found in Lilly Pulitzer or Tory Burch. But when I met Susie Smith of Makin’ Waves Salon in Huntington Beach, and saw her hair, I almost fainted. She has hair down to her butt and has all sorts of colors like baby pink, blue, purple, white. And it looks awesome! I call her “My Pretty Pony.” She told me it is all hair extensions.

The clouds opened and the light bulb went off like fireworks on the 4th of July. I immediately pictured myself with some pink in my hair. But would it look silly? I’m 43 years old. Susie has tons of colors and she’s around my age and she doesn’t look silly at all. In fact, she looks badass.

We tested it out by putting in a few baby pink pieces. Susie put them in back, underneath so they were very subtle. It was love at first sight! I am now determined to wear pink in my hair for the rest of my life! We change it up every month. Sometimes hot pink, sometimes less, sometimes more

The best part is that it is INSTANT GRATIFICATION. It took about 15 minutes (seriously) and cost me $50. It would have taken a lot longer and been more expensive had we tried to use color and put pink highlights in my hair. Plus, since they are extensions, they add body to my stringy, straight, spaghetti-like hair. Yay! (I have tears in my eyes just thinking about it). Plus, it doesn’t damage your hair like coloring does.

I recommend you try some hair extensions. Susie is THE BEST! I should know – I did the PR for Paris Hilton’s hair extension line and they were good, but Susie is better. I learned all about hair extensions. Susie knows about 10 types of extension methods so she knows what is best for each client. (Most stylists know only 1 or 2 kinds of hair extensions). AND, the extensions do no damage to your hair! Susie has been putting extensions in my hair for over 8 months now, and I have NO damage. Brilliant.

Adding some red to black hair looks amazing.  A darker color to blonde hair gives that ombre look that is so hot right now. Of course, I recommend the pink! If you don’t want to do a bright color, you can do some blonde extensions to add highlights, or a rust to add depth to dark hair.

Now, even when I am naked, I am wearing PINK!
