It's going to be another gorgeous, sunny weekend in Tampa. So get outside and enjoy it! Here are some of the best events happening around town this weekend.
The Cajun/Zydeco Crawfish Festival
Get ready for live entertainment, drinks, crafts and all the delicious crawfish you can stomach! The Cajun Connection is hosting putting on the 2011 Crawfish Festival at Vinoy Park in Downtown St. Petersburg. It starts this Friday 3/11 at 4:30 and runs through the weekend. Expect to find more than 10,000 pounds of crawfish and other Creole and Cajun style food. There are live performances every day and, if you're really feeling brave, a crawfish eating contest! Yum! Check out the Cajun Connection's website for more details and some amazing pictures from last year's event.
Shamrock'n Run
St Patty's Day is almost here, so why not get a head start burning off those extra calories you're sure to be guzzling down (gotta love green beer) on the big day? The Shamrock'n Run is a St. Patrick's Day themed event in Largo at Ulmer Park this Friday. Registration starts at 5pm. There's a 5K competitive run, a 1.5-mile walk and a kids Clover Dash. Of course, you can wrap it all up with live music, tasty food and drinks.
Shamrocks and Shenanigans at the Bay Area Renaissance Festival
If you've never been to a Renaissance Festical before, be prepared for an out-of-this-realm experience. The whole grounds is set like a 16th century village. There's live entertainment (music and jousting to name a few), a street theater, art vendors and more. and to keep the St. Patty's day fun rolling... this weekend The Realm is celebrating all things Irish! It's a fun theme running all weekend. Stroll through the Irish Village and enjoy Irish dancers and musicians too. If you're really feeling festive, feel free to dress up as your favorite fairy princess or let your man wear some armour and be a real shining knight! Check out the Renaissance Festival website for more info.
The Florida Strawberry Festival
And finally, don't forget about the Strawberry Festival! This sunshine State tradition has been running since last week. The Florida Strawberry festival draws crowds from all over the country.
