Valerie Harper has been diagnosed with terminal brain cancer.

The Mary Tyler Moore Show star tells PEOPLE magazine this week that she received the news on January 15th.

Tests revealed she has a rare condition called leptomeningeal carcinomatosis, when “cancer cells spread into the fluid-filled membrane surrounding the brain”.

Doctors say the 73-year-old has just three months left to live.

So sad.
