Oscar-winning actress Elizabeth Taylor is being treated for congestive heart failure at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. According to her spokesperson, the 78-year-old actress was admitted within the past couple of days. In November 2004, Taylor revealed that she was suffering from the cardiac condition.
Last Wednesday, Taylor missed an event in New York where she was to receive an award for her dedication to AIDS research. Elton John accepted the award on her behalf and read a message from her. "I am there in spirit and I join you in saluting my fellow honorees and all these extraordinary leaders. I am inspired by their example, exhilarated by their vision, and encouraged by their compassion and love. And I love them in return."
It's not known how long the Hollywood icon will be in the hospital. Her family acknowledged the support from fans, but asked for privacy.
