It’s here: BOAT RACES 2012. Call it “Water Follies,” “The Columbia Cup” or “the best weekend in the Tri,” but just don’t call yourself unprepared for a fun-filled weekend. Below are some reminders and links to keep you informed and ready for a monumental weekend that symbolizes summer, celebrating our beautiful spot in the state of Washington and our community.
Tickets: If you’re not one of the lucky ones who have a house on the river or a friend who scored a sweet spot in a sponsor’s tent, then you need to get yourself a ticket. General admission tickets are affordable and will get you down past the gates to see each turn. Parking is an extra fee, but the Ben-Franklin transit is also a great option. If you’re a veteran to boat races, you know it’s in your best interest to carpool with a designated driver. For specific ticket prices and parking information, visit the Water Follies website.
Schedule: Hydros start pulling into town today and tons of other events are happening around town! Check out the full schedule that includes Dash for Cash, Air Show and the final race for the Columbia Cup!
Art in the Park: Allied Arts will be hosting their Annual Art in the Park Friday and Saturday. Come and see one of the best outdoor art shows where you can buy beautiful handmade crafts and creations. It’s also a great way to get out and see some of your neighbors and enjoy the park before the day gets really hot.
Have a great weekend celebrating what many categorize as a “local holiday.” The excitement is in the air and pretty soon we’ll be hearing those familiar hydros on the water. Be safe, be responsible and have fun!
