Tonight’s episode of Khloe and Lamar began with Malika explaining to Khloe her desire for a breast augmentation. Khloe cautions her and expresses concern that Malika should not be rushing into surgery to change her already beautiful image, especially if it has to do with her recent break-up. To bring back Malika’s confidence, Khloe takes her lingerie shopping, commenting on Malika’s “hot bod” and tiny frame. Khloe introduces Malika to the beauty of creating “illusions:” she encourages her to try on bras that can push things way up. In a hilarious, yet truthful, commentary, Khloe claims that everything on her- from her hair to her makeup to her eyelashes- is an illusion.
Amidst all this, Lamar discusses potentially taking his father on a trip. Lamar launches into his family’s past and the sorrows he and his father have dealt with. Lamar, like his father, was a witness to death at an early age, beginning with the passing of his grandfather and later, his mother. Although Lamar laments his tumultuous, and at times estranged, relationship with his father due to the choices he has made, he seeks to understand how his father’s stint in Vietnam mentally affected him. Lamar takes his father out to a dinner in which his father states, while shaking his head, “I wish I was a kid again…I’m not a kid anymore,” after which he and Lamar share a hearty laugh.
Following the commercial break, Khloe is evidently angry with Malika, whom she believes called her fat. Malika denies the claim; but Khloe continues to express to Malika that she does not support her decision for surgery. Malika tries to reason with Khloe, and explains in the following confessional, “It’s not a man issue…it’s a Malika issue.”
Khloe and Lamar visit Camp Pendleton to observe the military’s everyday operations for Lamar to get a better grip on his father’s past. The trip evidently highly affects Lamar, who is grateful for not only the Marines’ sacrifice, but also for his father’s.
Malika’s sister also cautions Malika against the surgery and Malika comes to the observation that because no one closest to her supports it, her decision-making must have been flawed. Malika decides against the surgery to Khloe’s contentment.
The episode concludes with Lamar telephoning his father to let him know his plans for taking him on a trip, and a sneak peak of next week’s episode, in which Lamar stresses while waiting to find out whether or not he will be drafted.
