"You Dirty Beach" Clean-up at Alki Beach
"You Dirty Beach" Clean-up at Alki Beach

Remember how nice the beach was in the beginning of the summer? Now, look at it. Yes, that is a Doritos bag that just floated past that broken boogie board, and those beer bottles are not in any means related to the romantic notion of finding a message in a bottle. Remember how much fun you had and memories you made this summer thanks to the beach? Cartwheels on the sand were so fun at the beginning of the summer, but now you wouldn’t dare to try because who knows what you might land in. If you want to restore your beach to the way it was before the summer so you can do cartwheels again and to make sure that your beach is around for a long time for future generations to enjoy, then look for a beach clean-up to take part in, or start your own!

The “You Dirty Beach” Clean-up is taking place at Alki Beach on September 15th at 10 am and would love to have volunteers! If the name itself doesn’t sell you, then you should know that the event is offering Jason Mraz tickets on September 22nd as a reward for the first 50 volunteers to register and return a bag of trash! For those that don’t score the tickets, there is still an afterparty at Duke’s Chowder House for everyone to enjoy. If these are not incentives enough, remember that everyone loves Alki beach with its beautiful views of the Seattle skyline and that it deserves to be kept beautiful!
