I was ecstatic as I headed over to Spooky's Black Cat Cafe this past Saturday evening for dinner. Since its opening a few months back I must admit I can't get enough of the place and have already been there a handful of times. The restaurant is the third creation of the fabulous chef Bret Ashman and is located in Orlando's Milk District only a block away from his two other establishments, The Social Chameleon and The Milk Bar. The opening of Spooky's had been much anticipated by regulars (which we are) of Chameleon as its continually growing popularity is starting to outgrow its cozy yet modest size dinning area. Now it goes without saying that we wouldn't trade Chameleon for anything but after spending several delicious evenings at Spooky's I must say it, too, doesn't disappoint.

The restaurant is just oozing with character and charm, just like Bret's other venues, and has a delicious menu which is a mix of a few of the items from Chameleon and a handful of new creations. The eclectic decore, made up of plush curtains, colorful ceiling lanters, twinkling lights and numerous art pieces from local talent, make patrons feel at home and eager to sit back and stay a while.

During the several visits we've had at Spooky's thus far everything has been amazing. Some of our current favorites are the dragon eggs (deviled eggs), deemed so due to the wasabai which is mixed into the yolk, grape leaves, Nan bread with your choice of dip, the sandwich king, pulled pork, roast chicken wrap, 8 cheese pizza and the "Best meatloaf sub in town" (yes, that is its official name). I must also add that the pumpkin cheesecake was to die for. Even as I write this post I am planning my next visit so I can try some more of their homemade desserts! At this point I don't really think there is much left to say other than I am quite certain that Spooky's Black Cat Cafe will have an uncharacteristically bright future.
