I couldn’t wait to get back to Government Center to try out more of their food trucks. This week I ventured to the Clover food truck to see what tasty creations they were serving up on their roving food lab.
Location: Clover Food Lab, City Hall Plaza (Gov’t Center T stop)
Timeline:
12:30 Left office
12:36 Entered Boylston T station
12:37 Got on T
12:40 Got off T
12:43 Arrived at truck and got in line
12:46 Ordered food
12:51 Got all food and one drink and started eating
Pepper Relish Sandwich ($5)
Clover had mentioned this as a new sandwich on Twitter the day I was planning to go, so it intrigued me before I even got there (and I love pepper relishes and jellies). The sandwich consisted of roasted squash, coleslaw (vinegar-based, no mayo), sharp cheddar cheese and pepper relish.
The pita bread not only made this sandwich light, but also easy to eat. In a situation where you are sitting on a low brick wall to eat, anything to make it easier and not make a huge mess is a plus in my book.
Fries with Rosemary ($3)
While I wouldn’t normally order fries during lunch, I just had to try these because of the rosemary. I found the fries a little salty, which is perfect for me, but wished the rosemary flavor was a bit stronger.
Lavender Lemonade ($2)
This lemonade was delicious; not too tart and with a nice lavender taste (mild yet noticeable and not overpowering).
Total cost: $10 (I paid cash to make it easier, but Clover does accept debit cards.)

I really enjoyed my lunch at the Clover truck, and really love the concept of their menu changing all of the time. Even during the lunch-hour rush, the service was fast and friendly. Clover is definitely worth the trip for anyone looking for a quick, delicious lunch in the City Hall area. If you stop by, give them a quick hello @cloverGOV.
