Set in the most opportune of spots on the water in the National Harbor this pizzeria still maintains its quaintness and charm. Having been only open for a month when I went there, I very much enjoyed myself. I highly recommend the Chef's favorite, the Tonno Siciliana, an oven roasted Halibut.
My favorite was the Pan seared Tuna Steak with eggplant and a sun dried tomato salad. Nothing says summer like sun dried tomatoes, eggplant and a great rare tuna steak.
Owned by Shelly Firehouse, a household name in New York and Dubai, he has brought his 37 years of expertise to Maryland along with his quirky personality and that creativity shines in everything he does. Known for making their there own cheese on the premise, they make a great Burrata, that is half mozzarella and half you have to kill me for the rest of the recipe. Along with a comfortable setting, a Bacchus statue with a working water fall sits in the corner of the restaurant. The statue holds a large bowl that chills their home made cheeses for the entrees and cheese plates.
To add to the fun of this family restaurant there is also a ‘Wheel of Fortune’ wheel that spins on the hour for extras. Every hour not only does your tummy say yum, but you might win a prize. Another new and fun restaurant for the ever growing National Harbor, a must visit.
