Where to Dine Outside this Summer in the Hamptons
Where to Dine Outside this Summer in the Hamptons

Translated from Italian, al fresco means at a fresh temperature, and what better way to dine?  Sure, the hot sunny days are great; it means chilling on the beach and dipping our toes into the ocean, but our favorite time of day has to be when the air starts to cool, the colors explode across the sky as the sun dips below the horizon, and we’re ready to sit down and enjoy the final meal of the day.

There’s a vibrancy and conviviality that pervades these evenings, so after hours of summer fun, get the gang together and organize a party!  Whether you just want to unwind with the kids or hang out with friends, it’s a great way to end the day.  Whip up a quick yet classic summer meal, such as pot of pesto pasta and head on over to Sears Bellows County Park located at the mouth of Bellows Pond.   This charming setting coupled with the trails good for after dinner strolls make this park a perfect place to host an al fresco event.  Don’t forget your citronella candles, Frisbees and picnic blankets (as well as a cheeky bottle of wine!) to make for a special summer evening.

Equally, dinner in the park is also the perfect set up for a romantic evening, whether that be a first date or a wedding anniversary.  Either way, spice things up with a little outdoor fun.  You could pack a gourmet basket with some fine cheeses and nice bottle of red, or pick up Chinese takeout from a local food truck.  On this occasion, you might want to plan your date for the picturesque stretch of beach as part of Cedar Point County Park.  Again, bring along your candles and picnic blanket, although this time we think you can leave the Frisbees at home!

If it’s a more traditional setting you’re after, then look no further than Nick & Toni’s, well known (and loved!) throughout the Hamptons.  This restaurant offers outdoor seating, giving you the opportunity to kick back and let the chefs do the work but still able to enjoy the cool summer evening breeze.  Furthermore, this summer $30 buys you three courses, a deal that should not be passed up.  Ideal for a night out with the girls or an intimate dinner, don’t forget to make a reservation, because no doubt many will plan on doing the same!

So whether you choose to pack a picnic, venture over to a local haunt, or simply serve dinner in your backyard, you really have to enjoy at least a few of your summer meals out in the fresh air!
