No longer do you need to hide it deep in your purse, under your pillow or feel guilty while reading it next to the stranger at the doctor’s office. You don’t need to be ashamed because if you ask the ridership on the Metro bus this afternoon if they’ve read 50 Shades of Grey, I bet almost every woman’s had will go up (and some men will try and hide their smirks because they just downloaded it on their Kindle). And maybe you haven’t been ashamed, being the brave and liberated woman who brings it up at cocktail parties and started a heated book discussion among the women while sharing wine and apps. Honestly, you’ve been surprised at who has read it, right? Who knew your neighbor was into that? No judgment. You read it too. All three of the books. And liked them. Okay, LOVED them.

Well gather your wits ladies; September 22 is the day you have been waiting for. Third Place Books in Lake Forest Park is hosting E.L. James! The author who brought us the rare blend of literary pornography tied together with an actual love story will be signing her books from 5-7:30pm. Tickets are required for this event and there are some guidelines that must be followed. Is your pulse racing yet? It should be. This event is guaranteed to sell out. E.L. James is from West London, so while she may write about Seattle as if she lives here, she actually is traveling quite a distance to be in the area and it might be a while until this opportunity presents itself again.

Next steps: Tickets for the event went on sale August 3rd. As of August 20th, there are still tickets available. You can get tickets two ways: 1) Purchase any book from the trilogy at Third Place Books and get a signing line ticket. This may be done in person or over the phone. Or 2) Bring in any book from the trilogy previously purchased (from any store) to the Third Place cashier and receive a signing line ticket. You MUST come into the store with your book to receive a signing line ticket, NO EXCEPTIONS.  One ticket per person. One person may not pick up a group of tickets for friends. There are other guidelines explained on the First Place Books website that will ensure the signing goes smoothly.

Look at yourself in the mirror. Are you biting your lip in anticipation? Are you grinning like a school girl? Go! Go be with the other readers like yourself who fell in love with this series despite the constant bashing and jokes. Feel the warm embrace of other readers like yourself who can read War and Peace in its entirety, but would rather curl up in bed with a book that pushes their sexual limits and maybe supplies better dream material than any book suggested on the so called “classic list.” Books should be celebrated because they changed your life; they changed the way you think about things. Personally, while not the best written piece of literature I’ve ever read, 50 Shades Trilogy is up there proudly displayed on my bookshelf.

Still not sure what some of those terms in the book where? Be sure to read GalTime’s article, After 50 Shades: Making Sense of Sex Terms. If you’re up for a 50 Shades road trip, let GalTime take you! Read 50 Shades of Grey Road Trip, complete with a soundtrack with music from the book.
