One of my favorite things about New Mexico is our wineries. California isn’t the only state in this country that creates some amazing wine. This weekend, make yourself a tourist, and head to one of the amazing wineries in the city, or venture a little bit farther and head out of the city for the true tourist feeling.
If you have been to one of the many Wine Festivals in the State you know there are a ton of wineries in the area, however, there is something so much more classy and exciting about wine tasting at a winery itself. One of my favorites is the Ponderosa Valley Winery outside of Jemez Valley.
Not only do you get to drive through the beautiful Jemez Valley, but once you are at the winery you experience quiet and serenity. It is miles away from highways and city noise and really gives you that “vacation” feeling. The mountains and vineyards provide a beautiful setting and backdrop to tasting some absolutely amazing (and reasonably priced) wine.
If you want to stay in the city, Casa Rondena Winery offers a beautiful setting and amazing wine in Los Ranchos de Albuquerque. Casa Rondena is open seven days a week and allows you to taste and buy wine while enjoying their beautiful property. They even offer private group tours if you want to make an event out of it!
Corrales Winery is also pretty close to the city and gives free tours and wine tasting Wednesday through Sunday. Wine tasting is a
great weekend activity for you and your favorite gals if you’re looking for a change from the hustle and bustle of the City. If you’re on a budget get a couple bottles between you and your friends and enjoy a home cooked dinner later that night.
This weekend enjoy the beautiful weather, beautiful scenery and some amazing wine!
