Get Rid of the Clutter in your Closet
Get Rid of the Clutter in your Closet

Is your bedroom closet neat and organized? Or does it more closely resemble the aftermath of a major natural disaster (like mine does)? This weekend I vowed to clean out my walk-in closet. I normally get overwhelmed and have no idea where to start, so I give up entirely, but this weekend was different! By following the game plan below you will take the stress out of getting a closet organized.

Here are some of her tips on how to make the process a lot easier, and much less excruciating!

First, scale down your clothes so you are forced to choose from your nicer things. Next, get rid of self-esteem killers.  I know that sweats and yoga pants are comfortable, but do you honestly feel put together and confident when you wear them for anything other than working out? I didn't think so. Another great way to purge is to donate things you don't wear or don't need. You should donate anything that you haven't worn in a year, things that are two sizes too large or small, and anything with stains, holes, or missing buttons & zippers. Finally, in the future swap new duds for old ones. Every time you buy a new piece of clothing, take one item out of your closet. This way you keep your wardrobe fresh and your space doesn't get overloaded with clothes you don't wear. As you wear your clothes, re-hang them so that the hangers face backwards. (You can also spend the time to re-hang all your clothes with the hangers facing backwards and then put back clothes with the hangers facing forward. Either way works). After few months you'll have a quick visual that will let you know what you're actually wearing and you can discard the clothes that haven't made the cut.
