Corn Maze at Denver Botanic Gardens | Fun Stuff

Corn Maze at Denver Botanic Gardens
Corn Maze at Denver Botanic Gardens

There is still plenty of time to get lost in this year’s Halloween festivities, especially at the Denver Botanic Gardens at Chatfield’s 8-acre Corn Maze.

This fall cornfield wanderers can navigate through the many routes of this newly designed Corn Maze at the Gardens’ Chatfield location in Littleton.  This season’s theme is a tribute to the Allan Houser exhibit, Native Roots | Modern Form, currently showcased throughout the Denver Botanic Gardens at its York Street location.

As one winds their way through acres of Native American-style cornfield artwork, they can stop to enjoy the view and the design from two different 15-foot tall bridges overlooking the massive Corn Maze. An additional mini-maze located next to the large maze is designed for the exploration of younger children.

If the thought of wandering through a maze of corn brings up apprehension similar to the Massachusetts family who made a 911 call for help after becoming lost in the dark in the maze, fear not.  The Gardens has a security crew patrolling the maze at all times, ready to help guide and answer any questions one may have.  A Corny Maize Passport is also provided to help guide maze goers (depending on how much they know about maize) find the correct pathway.

One can also opt in for bouncing on the Jumping Pillow, finding the perfect pumpkin in the Pumpkin Patch, and spending time on a hayride or pony ride instead.

Plenty of picnic tables are available in the area if visitors want to bring their own food and enjoy the fall scenery.  However, food vendors are also on site selling a variety of festival foods and harvest treats.

The event is open every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from Sept. 9 through Oct. 30 at the Chatfield location, Fridays 4 – 9 p.m.,
Saturdays Noon – 9 p.m.,
and Sundays Noon – 6 p.m.

Come prepared, because in an effort to be more eco-friendly this year, the Gardens is not printing maps of the Corn Maze.  So visit http://www.botanicgardens.org/content/corn-maze to print your own maze map.  A map and directions to Denver Botanic Garden at Chatfield can be found here.
