We all love our pets and in particular, our dogs, whether that manifests itself in a little pampering, a nice long walk, or simply snuggling up on the sofa. A dog’s need for daily exercise means that you too get the chance to go out and stretch your legs. And this sort of activity is a great way to meet like-minded, dog-loving people!
We don’t know about you, but we love to treat our furry friends to a little something every once and a while; a new toy to nibble on in the back yard, a Frisbee to throw in the park or some new doggie shampoo in another desperate (yet ultimately futile) attempt to finally rid them of that wet dog smell.
Well, whatever it is, we know where you should look for it! Having had a “sniff” around, we have decided that these are the top local spots.
If your pup is craving a sweet treat (which we were are often guilty of ourselves) the River Dog Bakery has everything you’re looking for and more! Their dog bakery cooks up a variety of freshly baked goods; Bowser Brownies, Blueberry Mutt Muffins, Ruff Krispy Treats, to name but a few. And that’s not all; they have a self-serve doggie spa room, giving you a nice clean and calm environment to give the pooch a good scrub-a-dub. And they’re selling everything from toys to collars and leashes to bedding and bathing products, so don’t forget to stock up!
PetSafe Village Dog Park is the perfect place for you and your dog to get some fresh air, especially for him! This park is just over one acre and there’s plenty to keep him occupied, from agility equipment to a pond and a doggie water fountain to make sure he doesn’t go thirsty! And for the humans: some picnic tables and park benches so you can get to know your fellow dog owners. The off-the-leash period starts at 5pm, Monday through Friday and after 3pm on the weekends.
Do you ever feel that twang of guilt looking into those sad, round, puppy dog eyes when you slink out the door to grab a cold one? Well, no longer! The French Market is known for its charming patio area, which attracts many a friendly dog and family. What’s more, they cook up delicious crepes, both sweet and savory, so next time don’t leave the dog at home!
