Looking for an excuse to try out some new restaurants or breweries in the Bay Area? Or maybe just to drink a lot of beer? Well, this week you have a few! February 8th-17th is San Francisco Beer Week, brought to you by the San Francisco Brewers Guild. There are 500 official events going on in your local restaurants and breweries celebrating the growing craft beer community in San Francisco. Events include everything from beer tastings, to happy hours, to special beer pairing menus. Beer and food? Sold. But choosing from 500 events is pretty overwhelming, so here are some of our top picks for San Francisco Beer Week 2013:
Blind Beer Tasting:
Pyramid Alehouse’s Blind Beer Tasting on February 16th allows you to try Pyramid beers along with direct competitors in a variety of different styles of beer. Best thing about it? Admission is only $5 and all proceeds benefit the Northern California MS Society.
Beach Chalet’s Beer Week Prix Fixe Menu:
Beach Chalet Brewery & Restaurant is offering a four courses $35 Prix Fixe menu to enjoy during all of Beer Week. Each of the delicious sounding courses, even desert, are paired with a select craft beer to compliment the meal.
Speakeasy’s Speakeasy:
The Rosamunde Sausage Grill on Mission Street, is hosting a variety of events for Beer Week, but not all of them are 1920’s themed! If you love this decade as much as I do, go dressed as a flapper, mobster or any ‘20s icon on February 16th and get your first Speakeasy pint for 25 cents!
Slider Pairing with Auburn Alehouse:
What is better than a burger with your beer? Not a whole lot. SliderBar in San Francisco picked up on this preferred combination and has collaborated with Auburn Alehouse for Beer Week. Choose from four different slider and beer combinations for $8; or, if you want to share, 4 sliders and 4 beers for $25. Either way, the combinations have been hand selected by an in-house cicerone to make this classic combination even better.
