Sexy lingerie for a good cause. That’s the idea behind a new lingerie company called Naughty for Nice, conceived and designed by Chicagoans Matt Goodman and Maggie Gillette. As Matt likes to say, “Sex sells. Let’s make it give back too!” Naughty for Nice aims to empower both the women who wear the lingerie and women in need.
Matt and Maggie took their passions of design and helping others and created a lingerie company that donates 10 percent of all proceeds to charities that help women. On April 30, their online store opened for business. Check out their signature sexy thong that comes in four colors and can be personalized. Right now, 10 percent of the proceeds of the thongs go to ovarian cancer research and education.
“We picked this cause because mortality rates are still very high for ovarian cancer, in part because women aren’t aware of the warning signs so it can often be fairly advanced before it’s diagnosed,” says Maggie. Plans to expand with other national and local charities around the U.S are in the works. If you are a charity and interested in working with them, visit their website to contact them.
This lingerie-loving team met in the seemingly only place where one would look for a career in both lingerie and philanthropy: Craigslist. Maggie made sure to meet Matt in a public setting for their first meeting. But upon meeting, the two say they hit it off and realized they wanted to team up and make this vision a reality.
Ever wonder what goes into a startup business? Maggie and Matt maintain and regularly post to their blog about their experiences getting a lingerie business up and running. It’s an interesting and honest take on the behind-the-scenes details from setting up a business to finding a safe delivery address that could accommodate tons of boxes of panties when living the apartment life in a big city.
“Producing panties with a purpose is only the beginning,” Matt and Maggie say. “In the coming years, we want to create positive change through everything Naughty for Nice touches.”
Check out their website, buy some hot lingerie, and support a women’s cause at the time. I love shopping for the good.
