Over the past few days, some big announcements about what's coming to Florida theme parks. If you're planning a vacation to any of the Orlando-area parks, some new adventures await your family.
LEGOLAND Florida Opening Date
Just this morning, LEGOLAND Florida announced that the new park will open on Saturday, October 15th. The new park is designed for kids two to 12-years-old. LEGOLAND says that the park will have "50 'pink-knuckle' rides – from roller coasters to race cars." Florida sales manager Todd Andrus said that they've had lots of inquiries about the opening date. Andrus says, “Guests are all but begging to know the date, so they can book their flights and accommodations, and purchase admission tickets.”

New Attractions in 2012 at Universal Orlando

Last week, some news out of Universal Orlando, too. Universal is bringing a new attraction to the park. It will be a 3-D CGI ride based on the movie Despicable Me. The ride will replace the Jimmy Neutron attraction. “The ‘Despicable Me’ attraction is the latest example of how we tap into pop culture’s most compelling stories and turn them into extraordinary theme park entertainment,” said Mark Woodbury, president of Universal Creative. “This is a perfect fit for Universal Orlando, and we can’t wait to bring this one-of-a-kind experience to life.” Universal says guests will shriek when the entire family is turned into minions.
Additionally, "The Amazing Adventures of Spider-Man" will be reanimated in 4K digital high definition. Universal says that the new HD animation will allow guests to experience new details – "from the flames spewing from Hobgoblin’s pumpkins to the electricity arching through Electro’s body to the stitching on Spider-Man’s gloves."
Both attractions are scheduled to open in 2012.
