DISNEY ANNUAL PASS CONTEST CLOSED. SEE WINNERS BELOW.
Part of the magic of the holidays at Walt Disney World Resort is the many beautiful decorations. Decking the halls at each resort and park is no small job. The decorating happens in the overnight hours while guests are sleeping.
GalTime got a look at some of the holiday décor around the resorts. You’ll find unique touches at each property, but here are a few of our favorites.
Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa
The smell of gingerbread fills the lobby of the Grand Floridian Resort. That’s because of the life-sized Victorian gingerbread house that also puffs cinnamon smoke out of the chimney. The house is 16-feet-high and made with 1,050 pounds of honey, 600 pounds of powdered sugar, 800 pounds of flour and other edible ingredients.
The tree inside the lobby is impressive, too. It’s a popular backdrop for holiday photos for guests staying at the resort. Guests who wake up there on Christmas morning often open their presents underneath the massive 40-foot tree.

Boardwalk Inn
A fun new feature at the Boardwalk Inn is Stitch’s Bakery. It’s a structure made up of entirely edible items themed around the character Stitch from the movie, Lilo and Stitch. Work on the bakery starts months in advance. If just looking at it makes you hungry, you’re in luck. Gingerbread is for sale along with kits to make your own (albeit much smaller) gingerbread houses.
Yacht Club
One of the fun features at of Disney’s Yacht Club Resort is a toy train that circles around a small, wintry village. The Christmas tree is decorated with boats and other nautical items. You won’t find Santa here, but you might be able to get a photo with the Captain.
Wilderness Lodge
Another impressive tree is in the Wilderness Lodge. It’s a massive, 45-feet high tree that's adorned in a motif of canoes, moccasins, teepees and more. You'll find rustic and festive touches all over the lodge.
