The newest Disney cruise ship was christened in star-studded style at the Manhattan Cruise Terminal this week. The Disney Fantasy traveled across the Atlantic Ocean and into New York City.
Singer Mariah Carey was at the christening, serving as the godmother for the ship. She wasn't the only celebrity on-board. The christening was filled with celebrity performances from the stars like Jerry Seinfeld, Neil Patick Harris, Nick Cannon and more. The night of festivities included a 6-foot bottle of champagne, streamers and confetti.
If you've sailed other Disney cruises, expect some fun, new features on the Fantasy:
- The ship includes plenty of technological wizardry. At one of the restuarants on-board, Animator's Palate, guests will be part of an animated show. They'll draw characters on their placemats that will come to life as animated characters while they dine.
- Water is always a big part of any cruise. The AquaDuck is a 765-foot long water coaster. There's also an AquaLab which is a water play area for kids. And there's even a waterfall on-board called, Satellite Falls.
- Expect to be entertained with two new Broadway-style stage shows premiering on the Fantasy. The signature show “Wishes” is a 45-minute musical about three best friends who discover the secret to being a grown-up is staying connected to their inner child. “Disney’s Aladdin – A Musical Spectacular” is a fast-paced musical comedy where Aladdin, the “street rat” of Agrabah, meets a Genie who grants him three wishes, battles the evil Jafar and falls in love with Princess Jasmine.
- There's plenty more for the grown-up kids to do. Adults can club hop across Europe. Europa is an entertainment district with clubs and lounges inspired by Italy, France, Ireland and London. Guests will feel like they're really there in Skyline which is a bar with changing views of Europe's most famous skylines.
The Disney Fantasy will sail to her home port of Port Canaveral, Florida in preparation for her maiden voyage on March 31st. The Disney Fantasy will sail seven-night cruises to the Caribbean and Disney's private island, Castaway Cay.
