Magical Makeovers At Sea For Pirates And Princesses | Great Escapes

Magical Makeovers At Sea For Pirates And Princesses
Magical Makeovers At Sea For Pirates And Princesses
The Biddidy Bobbidy Boutique during Pirate Night.

There's something magical about being a kid. Their imaginations are endless and they believe they can be anything be it a princess or a pirate. Disney is taking this childhood fantasy and turning it into a reality at the Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique aboard the Disney Fantasy.

Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique

You may be familiar with the Bibbidy Bobbidy Boutique from the Walt Disney World Resort. Now the boutique can also be found on the high seas aboard Disney's newest cruise ship, Fantasy. If you think it's just for girls, you'd be wrong matey! Makeovers are available for boys and grown-ups, too.

My daughter enjoys being a girly-girly and playing dress up in one of her many Disney princess costumes. But she has a tough side, too, and also likes pretending to be superheroes and pirates. We decided to enlist her in the Pirates's League during our recent cruise.

The boutique is located on Deck 5 of the ship. You can book your appointment before your vacation or while you're on-board. The Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique is geared primarily towards girls, but there are options for boys, too. They can be transformed into Captain Mickey or a pirate on Pirate Night.

For the Pirates - Young and Old(er)

Pirate Night is festive on any Disney ship. There's a Pirate Party on deck and fireworks at sea. The Fantasy kicks it up a notch with the pirate makeovers available to boys, girls and grown-ups.

Guests can choose from two pirate packages:

  • First Mate (includes bandana, facial scars tattoos, fake teeth, earring, eye patch, sword and sheath)

  • Empress (includes bandana, shimmering makeup, face gem, tattoos, nail polish, earring, eye patch, sword and sheath)

A "veteran pirate" handles the application of everything from beards to bandanas, earrings to eye patches and even scars! Before the new buccaneer can leave, they are given a new pirate name and they must recite a pirate oath. After that they're officially part of Captain Jack's crew.

Our daughter choose the Empress package. Eliza loved having special makeup and nail polish put on by a pirate. She was given the name Bettie Truesilver and swore her oath to the Pirate's League. She also learned a little something about "Pi-rattitude" along the way

After her transformation, we met up with Captain Jack for a photo in the lobby. Eliza aka Bettie was excited to meet up with her captain. Her pirate makeover made Pirate Night aboard the Fantasy even more magical. Yo ho, yo ho, a pirate's life for me!

For The Princesses

A Fairy Godmother (in training) greets the princesses and transforms them into their choice of a Disney Diva, Pop Princess or Fairy Tale Princess. Some of the options include Ariel, Aurora, Bell, Cinderella, Jasmine, Rapunzel, Snow White, Tiana, Tinker Bell as well as First Mate Minnie and Princess Minnie.

There are a variety of royal treatment packages available with varying costs. If you purchase a complete costume, it will be more expensive than just hair, makeup and nails. The princess costumes have crowns, wands and shows. But there are also costumes exclusive to Disney Cruise Line like the Under The Sea package which transforms little cruisers into mermaids with a two-piece swimsuit, “mermaid tail” wrap, tiara and nail polish that changes color in sunlight. The Disney Fantasy Package includes a frilly tutu, a stylish t-shirt and a poufy headband. Other cruise exclusive packages include Princess Minnie Mouse and First Mate Minnie Mouse and Captain Mickey Mouse

If your daughter already has a bunch of princess costumes at home, you can pack one along with you and just purchase the hair and makeup option.

Prices start at around $40 and can run as high as around $200.
