Before you start planning your 2011 vacations, you might want to check out this list from the U.S. Department of the Interior. Every year, the government schedules free dates at more than 100 national parks that normally charge entrance fees of $3-$25. (There are hundreds of other national parks that are always zippo.)
The remaining free admission days this year are:
April 16-24 - National Park Week
June 21 - The 1st day of Summer
September 24 - National Public Lands Day
November 11-13 - Veterans Day weekend
And free admission is just the start. Many of these national parks (here's the list) are planning special events and discounts on these dates... on everything from Horseback Riding in Glacier National Park, Montana to lodging and boating at Lake Mohave, part of the Lake Mead National Recreations.
So, this might be the perfect time to get out and enjoy our nation's heritage and natural beauty.
