Spring break is around the corner.  Do you have travel plans?  If not, why not take the family on a road trip?  Idaho has so much to offer and a road trip doesn't require expensive plane tickets, security lines, or delayed flights.  Here are a few destinations within Idaho, and a list of activities to wet your palette for road tripin' fun this spring break.

Sun Valley

Drive: 2 ½-3 hours, 156 miles

Activities:

Ski Dollar Mountain or Baldy Mountain.

If you stay at the Sun Valley Lodge or Inn you can ski free!  $139 per person, double occupancy. 

Heli Ski Baldy.

Ski the terrain park at Dollar Mountain.

Snowshoe or Nordic ski from the Sun Valley Nordic & Snowshoe center.

Experience the tubing hill at Dollar Mountain.

Ice skate at the Sun Valley Lodge.

Enjoy some apres ski entertainment at both lodges at the base of Baldy, or at the Sun Valley resort in various locations.

Leave the kids in the condo and attend a comedy show at the Boiler Room.

Take the whole family on a sleigh ride to Trail Creek.  

 

McCall

Drive: 2 1/2 hours, 106 miles

Ski Brundage.

Ski Tamarack.

Nordic ski or snowshoe through Ponderosa State Park, The Activity Barn, Jug Mountain Ranch, Tamarack Resort, or Bear Basin.

Try one of the many Hot Springs, perfect for sore muscles.

Snow Tube at the Activity Barn.

 

 

Sandpoint

Drive: 8 1/2 hours, 500 miles

Here are some lodging options.

Ski Schweitzer Mountain Ski Resort.

Snowmobile 100's of miles of trails.

Snowshoe.

Ice Fishing in lake Pend Oreille, Springy Point, Lake Cocolalla, or Dog Beach.

Live music at the Pend d'Oreille Winery.

Check out a flick at the Panida Theater.

 

If a road trip is not in the cards for you this spring break, here are some local activities to keep you entertained.

"Staycation" in Boise

For the kids:

Spring Break Camp at Wings Center.

Attend the Boise WaterShed Program and make beautiful eco-crafts while learning about environmental science.

Check out all of the free activities at the Library! nearest you.

Spring Break Camp at the Discovery Center.

Pay a visit to the Boise Zoo.

Splash, swim lessons at the YMCA.

For the family and grown-ups:

Attend the Boise Flower & Garden Show at the Botanical Gardens, March 23-35.

Catch a Flick.

Check out the exhibit at the Boise Art Museum.

Downhill ski, nordic ski, or snowshoe Bogus Basin.

Make a day trip to Idaho City.
