
Kids aren't the only ones who need their shots. Adults need them too...but many of us aren't good at keeping up-to-date with our immunizations. That can be dangerous, even deadly. So what exactly do you need? Recommendations vary according to things like age and medical history, but some are for everyone. Dr. Carol Friedman, CDC Associate Director for Adult Immunizations explains, “It’s recommended every 10 years that you get a booster for tetanus diphtheria and pertussis. Recently there’s been a resurgence of pertussis.” It’s the same case with shingles, or zoster. According to Dr. Friedman, “This is a reactivation of chicken pox and it can affect many older adults because immunity starts to wane.”
