Let’s be honest: yoga is the perfect fitness activity and a spectacular practice for your body and mind. Whether you’re a champion body builder or you’ve never seen the inside of a gym besides 4th period, any and all levels of athletes can participate and see amazing results. You’ll be stretched, pushed, pulled, and shaken to your core (literally!), but when you walk out of that studio, we’ve no doubt you’ll want to grab a smoothie and hit the beach to show off your bod!
For those of you just starting to learn about Downward dog and more, there are two main types of classes, within which there are many different types of practices, from Bikram, to Hatha and Vinyasa. The style will depend on what the teacher practices, but what you can decide is whether you’d like to take a yoga or hot yoga class. Beginners probably want to start out learning the basics of yoga in a regular class, as hot yoga is much like doing yoga in a sauna. The heat allows for increased intensity and stretch, but you’ll find yourself sweating buckets! Not our best look, but the workout in the end is always worth it.
That said, as long as you remember to stay hydrated before, during, and after class, we’ve compiled a list of some of the top yoga studios in the area. Just remember to wear breathable but well-fitted clothing! If you’ve got your own yoga mat and towel, great. If not, many studios sell or rent out mats and towels. You’ll be a bona fide yogi before you know it!
