Want to Get Organized? Figure Out What's Stopping You

If you really want to get organized, ask yourself these questions to determine the areas of your life where organization will make the most difference:

Where do I waste time?

Every morning do you stare at your stuffed closet for 15 minutes saying, “I have nothing to wear” and spend time frantically searching for your favorite sweater? Set a goal to reorganize your closet so you can pick out an outfit in 1 minute. Use the time you save to catch up on sleep or spend more time with your family.

Where do I waste money?

Do you rack up late fees because you don’t pay your bills on time? Set a goal of creating a monthly routine to pay your bills. Treat yourself to a reward with the money you save.

Where does disorganization cause me stress?

Do you feel overwhelmed when you come home after a long day at work to a cluttered, chaotic living room? Resolve to “create a place for everything and keep everything in its place'. Savor relaxing on the couch each night.

Where do I need more space?

Has your dining room table become so piled with papers and crafts projects that you can’t eat at it? Set a goal to remove everything that doesn’t belong, and gain back a room in your home. Enjoy a great meal with family and friends.

When you set specific organizing goals with a clear payoff you’ll be more likely to achieve them. Make this year the year you do get more organized! Want more tips on getting organized? Check out my other GalTime articles by clicking on my byline at the top of this one.
