The colors of fall are so vibrant. Orange, Gold, Red, and Green. I figured this year, I would let Mother Nature help me create a beautiful centerpiece inside from the bounty outside!
I started with a cupcake stand I had purchased at Target for $19.99. It’s a versatile serving piece I know will come in handy year ‘round. Another idea if you don’t want a cupcake stand: stack a small cake plate stand on top of a larger one to create that tiered effect.
Then, I made a trip to our local farm stand and purchased gourds in different shapes, sizes and colors, keeping in mind I want all of these elements to work in harmony. I also grabbed a few mini pumpkins, which are always a gorgeous hue of orange and perfectly shaped.
I walked the yard with my kids, and had them help me collect an arrangement of leaves in various shapes and colors. We also cut a grape vine…another alternative would be to use a berry vine. If you don’t have vines easily accessible, you can purchase artificial vines from a craft store that will make a nice background for your display.
Starting with the grape vine, I began at the top of the cupcake stand and twisted it around the tiers to the base of stand. I wrapped the vine twice around the base of the cupcake stand and tucked the end of vine into some of the existing bands.
Then, I filled in each tier with the leaves I had collected. I started with the larger leaves on the bottom, and layered smaller leaves on top, creating a bed of leaves on each level. Save some of the leaves for the end!
Now it was time for the gourds and pumpkins. Based on their size, and color, I nested them on each of the three tiers so they looked pretty and coordinated.
The finishing touch? Simply tuck in some of those leftover leaves around to fill in any empty spots.
Now you have a beautiful centerpiece for your table or entryway, bringing some of that fall splendor inside!
