Rogue Ales Honors Our Soldiers

Our favorite home state brewer has been working with the military the last couple of years to design custom labels to honor returning Guard units, using their specific insignia. This week they won the 2011 Oregon Restaurant Neighbor Award from the Oregon Restaurant & Lodging Asscociation and are eligible for the same national award, presented in Washington, D.C. this April. We'll cheers to that!

This is the Motor City and This Is What We Do

I know, I know, enough already of the Superbowl ads but there is one I can't get enough of and it's one of 3 created by Portland ad powerhouse Wieden & Kennedy.  My favorite white-boy-but-legit-rapper Eminem is rollin his Chrysler through his beloved city of Detroit in a "we're back" span of beautiful city images brilliantly soundtracked to "Lose Yourself". It's a powerful ad that has me pulling for this city with a renewed sense of "buy American" for our wheels.

We love our clean & frequent Max and charming streetcar,  and how 'bout that Free Rail zone?  Portland wins the #1 slot from US News & World Report for "Best Cities for Public Transportation". What next, best Biking City? Done and done!
