Whether you are happily coupled, or flying solo, Valentine’s Day is a great excuse to put together a festive affair, starting with a heart-heavy table setting. There’s no better way to show you care than to take the time to put together a sassy soiree—either for your sweetie, or your fabulous friends. So break out the pink champagne—it’s time to let the love in.
Flowers

Valentine’s Day may be the biggest day to buy flowers, but that doesn’t mean the flowers you purchase are fresh. In the winter months, I prefer a more sustainable option, such as these pretty paper roses. The best part--they’ll bloom all year long. $86.00 per arrangement by Eco-Twist on Etsy
Sweet Decor

Nothing says I Love You more than, well, I Love You. But in case you need to spell it out for him--get crafty and paint some old plates like I did. First, download stencils from the computer, trace each letter onto contact paper, put the letter on the plate and then apply several layers of paint. When you remove the sticky paper, J’Taime. These are not for eating (or washing) but they sure make a statement, don’t they?
Paint: I recommend Pebeo Porcelaine.

Treats
No Valentine’s Day fete would be complete without something sweet. Try a new twist on the cupcake craze—give your guests their own personal cupcake stand. These handmade cake stands are just $10 each, made by A Fabulous Fete on Etsy.

When you’re ready to scoop up dessert, these custom engraved spoons will do the sweet-talking for you. Each spoon has a unique message to charm that that special someone. How’s that for sweet-talking? $15.50 Sycamore Hill on Etsy
Party Favors

I found these little sweethearts in Chinatown, Philadelphia—but you can find a little whimsy at local craft shows, or online from handmade sellers. The make a nice little addition to the table décor, and serve a dual purpose as a gift for your guests. And if you plan to play matchmaker to any of your guests—split the pair up and see if they find their way back to one another.

The Perfect Look
Red Valentine

Of course you must wear a pretty outfit for your soiree on the day of love, why not make it something you’ll love long after Cupid shoots his arrow? This Organic Cotton Cami makes the perfect party piece—wear it under a black cashmere cardigan, or a sexy leather jacket.
TOMS Shoes with a Twist

Show your loved one that your heart is in the right place with these adorned shoes—TOMS shoes gives one pair of shoes to a child in need for every pair that is purchased. These customized cuties are also a great way to add some Valentine’s Day sparkle to your party. I made these myself, but you can make a pair for yourself, all you need are two hearts.
