Find Custom Treasures at College Park Antique Market
College Park Antique Market in College Park

After a recent visit to College Park Antique Market,  I am now itching to redecorate my home. Does my house need to be redecorated? No, not at all, but after the beautifully unique pieces I found at this shop, I just don’t think I can help myself.

The shop opened up late last year in College Park; it's a tiny space with lots to offer. Old furniture, china, jewelry and even a handful of stylish vintage hats (See Laura model a sassy hat in the photo gallery) all line the shop’s walls. However, those "expected" pieces are not what make this place so fabulous, but rather the custom creations that the shop’s owner/operator Kim Wagner makes herself.

As Laura and I walked around the shop, we just couldn’t stop ooohing and ahhhing at the all of the beautiful pieces, so much so, that a women in the shop took notice and started up a conversation with us. The women was a repeat customer of College Park Antique Market and had commissioned Kim on several occasions to create custom pieces for her home. She couldn’t say enough wonderful things about Kim’s work and noted that the one thing she loved most about Kim’s pieces were how she always included a beautiful but unexpected touch to her work.

We were floored to know that Kim had actually created most of the pieces on display in the shop.  Laura and I couldn't help but talk about where we would put the pieces in our homes.  What can we say?  We can get easily carried away! But the pieces were just so unique, and as her beloved customer had mentioned “unexpected."

One of my favorite pieces incorporated burlap into a headboard. Who would think you could use burlap in the design of a piece of furniture and still make it look classy? Kim did it! I would have bought in a heartbeat if I had a place to put it. (I some how got so enthralled with the headboard I forgot to take a picture of it. Blogger fail! My apologies.) Another favorite was an old door that she had taken and decorated with old keys and shells, mirrors etc, that was breathtaking. A total one-of-a-kind find.
