If there’s one thing a woman can’t have enough of, it’s shoes. Shoes are the unrivaled  accessory and can make any woman’s outfit complete.

While some women can’t get enough of them, others can’t wear them at all - or don’t know exactly how to wear them. Instead of leaving heels in the “arch enemy” category, pun intended, you can learn how to wear heels with these tips and tricks, and furthermore what type of heel pairs best with what outfit.

When picking out heels fashion blogger Nicole Longstreath (http://theWardrobeCode.com) says make sure your toes have wiggle room, and make sure there is sturdiness between the sole, shank, and the heel.

When picking out shoes, try to choose heels with real leather that will better form to your foot, rather than faux leather which is impossible to “break-in.”

Making sure your posture doesn’t change when you wear heels is principle. Melissa Damon of “Pop! Of Style” says don’t worry about the size of the heel, no matter how tall it will flatter the look of legs and tone key muscles. Make sure your back is flat, shoulders are back and hips are balanced!

To help yourself walk in heels more naturally, you can wear them around your house in short increments. Purchasing products like Foot Petals or gel insoles can help comfort  and keep your foot from sliding forward.

Lastly, be true to what you’re comfortable in and what fits your personal style. If you can’t wear four inch stick heels you don’t have to - there are so many different kinds of heels that are perfect for every woman. If you are new to the heel scene wedges are a cute, and great way to break in to the trend.

Heel Pairings

Shorts: Chunky, wedges, platform and t-straps. Be careful, the shorter the shorts, the shorter the heel should be to avoid looking like there is too much leg. Heels paired with shorts flatter legs, making them look longer and making the thigh region look smaller. Wedges and platforms have the best arch support.

Skinny Jeans: Traditional pointy toe, rounded toe, wedges and strappy. With skinny jeans you can get away with practically any type of heel. Try to go chunkier as opposed to skinny and strappy to avoid too much of the same look. Damon says “Platform heels look best when the hem of the pant hits just below the top of the shoe. Cropped versions of skinny jeans visually shorten your leg- so higher heels are important to maintain the visual of height. Lower heel heights look best when balanced with a wedge bottom.” Skinny jeans and heels are a versatile pairing that can be dressed up for work or a night on the town.

Short Dresses: Rounded toe or wedge. With dresses that reach your knees, like popular high wasted skirts and summer dresses, you can get playful with 5-6 inch heels. Shorter skirts look great with wedges or shorter boots.

Long dresses: Wedges, platform heels, and booties. With the popular maxi skirt this fall heels look great and lengthen a person out. Wedges and platform heels are a great compliment with a classy skirt. Because the skirt is long and there is a lot of material, make sure the shoes you pick out aren’t too chunky.

The Essential: A pair of nude heels are essential and can be worn with almost anything. Keep a pair of nude heels in your car so you can switch from day attire to night attire in 10 seconds. The nude shoe is the current classy and fashionable go-to shoe.
