Women have long asked the question - does a man prefer a sexy body...or a pretty face? Turns out, that depends on what he's looking for out of the relationship. A short hook up? Or holy matrimony?
According to researchers at the University of Texas, men stake out hot bodies if they want to have a fling--but focus on the face when trying to find a wife.
The study, published in the journal of Evolution and Human Behavior, studied the choices of 375 men and women by asking them to consider whether they wanted to date a member of the opposite sex whose face or body had been obscured. Women always opted for facial features--whether for a one-night-stand or a future husband.
Men, on the other hand, tended to choose hot bodies for their short term love affairs and faces for those long term relationships.
Why is this the case? The experts say a woman's face provides strong clues to her "reproductive value" - something men unconsciously look for when they're thinking of settling down and starting a family.
