Music to Set the Mood This Valentine's Day | Love & Sex

Music to Set the Mood This Valentine's Day
Music to Set the Mood This Valentine's Day

What do you do if he's a little bit country and you're a little bit pop?  Will you ever get it on?  The best music for sex is going to be something that you "come together" on, or else your bedroom is going to be stuffy, not steamy.

GALTime Sex and Love expert Jane Greer, Ph.D. says, "If one of you loves jazz, but your partner can't stand it then choosing that as music to make love by probably won't set the atmosphere of romance that you're looking for. If anything it might create the very opposite, which is tension and/or resentment. Find something mutually relaxing and pleasurable."

Though it's all about personal tastes, here are some things to "note" when looking for the perfect music for gettin' some.

Think about the lyrics. Tender words about love may help you tell your partner something without you having to say it out loud. The result may be slow, seductive sex that takes you to a new level.  Think: Marvin Gaye (You're All I Need to Get By), Luther Vandross (Here and Now), Peter Gabriel (In Your Eyes), Percy Sledge (When a Man Loves a Woman), Aerosmith (I Don't Want to Miss a Thing),  Joe Cocker (You Are So Beautiful), Eric Clapton (Wonderful Tonight), Sade (No Ordinary Love).  A couple of crooners who should be on everyone's list no matter what your age: Frank Sinatra or Tony Bennet ...any love song they sing.

On the other hand, lyrics about lust may help you get down and dirty. Variety is the spice of life, including your sex life. Think Donna Summer (Love to Love You Baby), Marvin Gaye (Let's Get It On or Sexual Healing), Christina Aguilera (Dirrty), Barry White (Can't Get Enough of Your Love, Babe), Boyz II Men (I'll Make Love to You), Dave Matthews Band (Crash Into Me), John Mayer (Your Body Is A Wonderland), Roberta Flack (Feel Like Makin' Love), George Michael (I Want Your Sex), Teddy Pendergrass (Turn Off The Lights).

Speed and tempo... we're talking the music AND the loving.  Fast, upbeat songs may lead to faster, pounding sex.  It can put a little wild in your wow. We're not talking heavy metal rock here, which most women would probably say is a turn-off. Try Queen (Crazy Little Thing Called Love), Red Hot Chili Peppers (Sir Psycho Sexy), ACDC (You Shook Me All Night), Bad Company (Feel Like Makin' Love), Kings of Leon (Sex on Fire).

If country is your thing, put on Keith Urban (Raining on Sunday) or Tim McGraw and Faith Hill (Let's Make Love). If jazz is your genre, pretty much anything will do.  You can never lose with Ella Fitzgerald (Love You Madly), Kenny G (Rhythm and Romance), Chuck Mangione (Feels So Good).

Just find the music that will help you "get in the mood" and stay in the mood and go with it. Or as Gloria Estefan would say.. let the music take you there.... (editorial note: just don't play that song!)
