Let me guess. You and your spouse have many differences regarding the way you think, act, and feel, right? Think this is just a difference in gender? Although some of it may be related to gender, most of it has to do with your personality! Our personality determines whether we are multi-tasked, single minded, bottom line, information gatherers, slow, fast, extroverted, introverted and the list goes on.
So why are you attracted to someone who is the opposite of you in the first place? The answer is actually quite simple – you were “staffing your weaknesses”! That’s right! Face it, there are certain things you are just not good at or really do not enjoy doing. Some things make you shake at the knees when you think about having to do them (like speaking in public in front of strangers) or make you cringe (like having to do your taxes), but this may be right up your spouses’ alley. Yes, things that you don’t want to do or find uncomfortable to do are probably the exact thing that your spouse is great at doing. When we first meet someone, these are the types of things that make us admire them, love them, and then eventually marry them.
Unfortunately, shortly after the rings go on so do the boxing gloves. How do you deal with the differences to keep harmony at home?
