"Not Now, Honey!"
By the time you are done reading the million email messages and dealing with the stress of your day, all you want to do is kick off your shoes and relax when you get home from work. Unfortunately, life is not that easy, when you have to make dinner, pick up the kids, take out the trash, pay the bills, walk the dog, oh, the list never ends! With extremely busy lives sometimes we take for granted our loved ones and put romance on the back burner. In fact, according to a recent national study of 2,000 adults, commissioned by Warner Brothers (to promote the release of the movie Hall Pass), the "seven-year itch" has been replaced by the "three-year glitch." How sad is that? Now just three years into a relationship, the study found that stress and irritation levels in a relationship peak and couples start doing their own thing. Bummer. So how can you make time for romance to keep your marriage alive?
Make it a priority!
Jason Coleman, co-author of the book Discovering Your Amazing Marriage, gave HeadDrama some helpful tips to keep the romance flowing. He says, “Take advantage of situations as they present themselves to spend a few moments alone. Whether you can take full advantage of a few quiet moments for intercourse or just for some light intimacy, these unexpected moments can be very meaningful to your relationship.” He adds, “In addition to spontaneity, be intentional in your planning and make time on a consistent basis to do something special for yourselves. With just a little pre-planning and thoughtfulness, you can set up a romantic encounter that will add spice and intrigue to your relationship. This also allows you to vary your routines and to add spark to your relationship.”
Although it sounds odd and unromantic to schedule time dedicated for romance, it shows that you're putting effort into the relationship and making it a priority! Try to make sure you are both going to bed at the same time. This gives you both a chance to talk and spend time together without other distractions. Plus, it increases the odds for a much needed good love session.
