You're never too young to chase fashion trends. At least that's what clothing manufacturers are banking on with toddler skinny jeans--which have become all the rage with the under three set.
That's right, forget those denim pampers--Gap now sells skinny jeans starting at the zero to three month size. And moms are gobbling them up--with skinny styles making up 40 percent of their infant and toddler jeans sales and 70 percent in the girl's department.
And they're not alone. American Eagle, J. Crew, True Religion, and Levi's all now are offering skinny jeans for kids as well.
Wow. And here I'm worried about panty lines with my skinny jeans. I mean, diaper bulge anyone?
UK Mom Siobhán Phinn bought a few pair for her three-year-old son. "They're not proper skinny, stuck to the legs jeans, they're still a little baggy on him," she says. "He loves them."
Other mothers aren't so sure. Julie from Tampa says, "Skinny jeans over diapers? That's ridiculous. Comfort for babies & toddlers WAY before style."
But according to a recent Wall Street Journal article many moms are loving the baby versions of adult fashions. And designers are more than happy to cash in on the cuteness. From Burberry to Ralph Lauren, Juicy Couture to Stella McCartney's successful Gap Kids line--skinny jeans are just the beginning for these baby fashionistas.
In fact, a new trend--jeggings (which are basically leggings that look like jeans)--is also now being sized down to fit infants and toddlers as well.
And here, when I was a kid, all I wanted was a pair of Wonder Woman Underoos...
Okay Moms! Have you bought skinny jeans for your kids? Would you?
