Take advantage of free sites on the web to help print out fun things for your children to do while you're stuck in the car. If they're old enough to spell words, make up customized word search puzzles on Puzzlemaker. You put in the words you want and it will autogenerate the puzzle for you. Be sure to pick out words that you'll be sure to see wherever it is you are going. If it's the coast, pick things like float, water, sunshine. If it's a zoo, you can pick animal names. Super simple fun. Or, try playing license plate bingo. You can go to Scholastic.com to make printable bingo cards. The boxes will be empty, so just fill in the names of different states before you print.
